Weekday closure between White Rock Road and Alder Creek begins Aug. 24; roadway will reopen nights and weekends
Motorists traveling through the south Prairie City Road corridor will need to plan for detours beginning Monday, Aug. 24, as a major pavement repair project will close a section of the roadway during weekday daytime hours.
Prairie City Road will be closed between White Rock Road and Highway 50 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays while crews remove and replace pavement across the full width of the roadway, according to the City of Folsom.
The work is expected to continue through the week of Sept. 1. The roadway will reopen each evening at 5 p.m. and remain open overnight until 7 a.m. Prairie City Road will also remain open on weekends, limiting the closure to weekday construction hours.
The pavement project is a joint effort between the City of Folsom Public Works Department and Sacramento County Department of Transportation. Crews are scheduled to remove and replace approximately four inches of pavement across the entire width of the affected roadway.
The work comes along a heavily traveled corridor connecting the growing south Folsom area with White Rock Road and surrounding portions of Sacramento County. Drivers who normally use Prairie City Road through the construction area should expect changes to their weekday travel while the work is underway.
Detours will be in place during the daytime closures. Motorists are advised to plan ahead, allow additional travel time and follow posted traffic signs and detour routes around the construction zone.
The closure is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. Monday, Aug. 24, with work expected to be completed during the week of Sept. 1, weather and construction conditions permitting.
