RANCHO CORDOVA- A suspect is in custody after stabbing an employee of a Rancho Cordova sports bar multiple times late Thursday night.

Delance Jefferson, 36, of Santa Rosa, was apprehended in the parking lot of the Nimbus Winery business complex located on Folsom Boulevard at the Hazel Avenue exit, just off Highway 50, as reported by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department.

Initial reports indicate that Jefferson was inside the Mr. Tequila Sports Bar shortly around 11:00 p.m. The suspect purportedly requested alcohol without tendering payment.

Upon being denied service, Jefferson allegedly began trailing a female waitress around the establishment. As she entered an area designated for employees only, a male employee confronted the suspect to intervene.

Following the confrontation, Jefferson escalated the situation by stabbing the employee multiple times before fleeing the scene. Quick-thinking patrons pursued the suspect, detaining him until law enforcement officers arrived.

The victim was rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department. His current condition remains unknown as authorities continue to investigate.

Sacramento County Jail records indicate that Jefferson is being held on initial charges of felony assault with a deadly weapon. His bail is currently set at $500,000.00, as per the booking records. According to court records, Jefferson has a criminal history including previous assault charges, drug possession and others.
