The Folsom-based studio recently announced the return of its Stand-Up Paddleboard Yoga program for an eighth consecutive season, continuing what organizers describe as the longest-running SUP Yoga program in the Folsom area. Held on the calm waters of Lake Natoma, the program blends paddleboarding, yoga and outdoor recreation into a unique fitness experience designed for participants of all experience levels.

Unlike a traditional yoga class or gym workout, SUP Yoga incorporates yoga poses and balance exercises atop anchored paddleboards, adding both a physical and mental challenge while surrounded by the natural scenery of the lake.

“Our SUP Yoga sessions are about more than just a workout; they are about having a bold spirit and creating community connection,” said Nick Clark, co-founder of Spotted Dog Yoga & SUP. “We invite participants to dive into an experience that is raw, vibrant, and inspired by a playful heart. It’s an opportunity to move boldly and enjoy the beautiful Folsom waters in a completely new way.”

Each session begins with an onshore paddleboarding lesson before participants paddle out together to the class location for the yoga session on the water. Organizers say the classes are intentionally designed to be welcoming for beginners, meaning no previous yoga or paddleboarding experience is required to participate.

Classes are capped at 20 participants to maintain a more personalized experience and allow instructors to guide paddlers comfortably both on land and on the water.

Participants can either rent equipment through the program or bring their own paddleboard if it meets the program’s safety requirements. Sessions that include rental equipment are priced at $69 per person and include yoga-specific paddleboards and all required gear. Those bringing their own paddleboards can participate for $35, though organizers note that personal boards must include an anchor attachment point compatible with carabiners used during class.

The program is open to participants ages 13 and older, with anyone between 13 and 17 required to attend alongside an adult participant. All attendees must be able to swim.

Organizers recommend participants bring water, sunscreen, a towel, a change of clothes and cash for park entry fees at Lake Natoma.

Over the past several years, paddleboarding and paddle fitness programs have continued growing in popularity throughout the Folsom Lake and Lake Natoma region, where calm waterways and scenic surroundings have helped establish the area as a destination for outdoor recreation and paddle sports.

Registration for the 2026 SUP Yoga season is now open, and organizers encourage early reservations due to limited class sizes and consistent demand in previous years.
