Week two of Twilight Concert Series continues summer tradition at the Zittel Family Amphitheater
After launching the season with a packed amphitheater and a night of classic rock from CCsegerR, Historic Folsom’s Twilight Concert Series returns this Thursday with a very different sound but the same promise of an energetic summer evening under the stars.
Taking the stage June 11 at the Zittel Family Amphitheater is Sacramento’s own Sugar High Band, an eight-piece ensemble known for its powerful vocals, tight musicianship and high-energy performances that have made the group a favorite throughout Northern California.
Presented by Bernau Development Corporation in partnership with the Folsom Historic District Association, the Twilight Concert Series continues its 13-week run with free concerts every Thursday evening through Aug. 27. The series has become one of Folsom’s signature summer traditions, drawing residents and visitors into the Historic District for evenings of live music, dining, shopping and community gatherings.
While last week’s opener delivered a dose of classic rock nostalgia, Sugar High Band shifts the focus to a vibrant mix of R&B, pop, funk and soul that is designed to keep audiences moving from the opening note to the final encore.
Formed in Sacramento in 2017, the band was created by lead vocalists Melissa Corona and Mike Rivera, who envisioned a group capable of delivering an unforgettable live music experience. That vision quickly expanded into a powerhouse ensemble featuring keyboardists Dameion Lewis and Ivan Johnson, lead guitarist Vincent Cole Dutcher, bassist Riccol Johnson, drummer Shawn “Pocket” Evans and lead vocalist Tony Mosley.
Together, the eight musicians have developed a reputation for creating a dynamic stage show that blends exceptional musicianship with audience engagement. The band’s performances are driven by soaring vocal harmonies, polished arrangements and a rhythm section that keeps dance floors packed throughout the evening.
Sugar High Band has earned praise throughout the region for its innovative performance style and ability to move seamlessly between genres while maintaining a signature sound. Drawing inspiration from R&B, soul, pop and funk influences, the group delivers music that appeals to a wide range of audiences and generations.
Beyond the energy and entertainment, the band also embraces music with substance. Their song selections often touch on themes of love, perseverance, personal growth and social awareness, creating performances that are both uplifting and meaningful.
The group’s growing popularity throughout Northern California has positioned Sugar High Band as one of Sacramento’s most sought-after live acts. Their combination of talent, passion and stage presence continues to attract new fans while building a loyal following wherever they perform.
Thursday’s concert is expected to once again draw large crowds to Historic Folsom following the successful opening week of the series. Concertgoers typically arrive early to enjoy dinner, drinks and shopping throughout the Historic District before settling into the amphitheater for an evening of live entertainment.
Located in the heart of Historic Folsom, the Zittel Family Amphitheater provides a unique outdoor setting that has helped make the Twilight Concert Series one of the region’s most popular summer events. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and arrive early to secure seating.
The summer music series continues following Sugar High Band with Invisible Son – Police Tribute on June 18, bringing the music of Sting and The Police to Historic Folsom. Wayward Buffalo follows June 25 with its Americana and roots-rock sound before July performances from Steelin’ Dan, Lyric Michelle Band, Hipper than Hip, AKAlive Band and LVVS.
The August portion of the series features Dunsbar Road, Wayside Band and Daze on the Green before the season concludes Aug. 27 with Adam Aldama & The Aces.
