Sacramento County Supervisor Rosario Rodriguez announced Tuesday that she is awarding over $45,000 in nonprofit grant funding to organizations serving the Folsom community. The funding will support programs focused on food security, homelessness services, youth development, education, arts access, historical preservation and community enrichment.
“Folsom is fortunate to have nonprofit organizations that serve residents in deeply meaningful ways,” said Rosario Rodriguez. “These grants will help provide food to families, support individuals working toward stability, expand educational opportunities, preserve local history and ensure more residents can participate in the cultural and recreational life of the community.”
The funding recipients and project descriptions are as follows:
Twin Lakes Food Bankreceived $10,000 to support the purchase of new refrigeration and freezer equipment to expand food storage capacity, reduce waste and increase access to fresh produce, meat, dairy and prepared meals. The project will also support the food bank’s guest-choice grocery model, allowing families to select the items that best meet their needs.
Folsom Historyreceived $5,000 to support Material Works at The Square, a hands-on learning program that connects Folsom’s historic trades and craft traditions with contemporary making. Grant funding will help purchase tools, equipment and program materials for workshops focused on practical skills, creative reuse, restoration and community-based arts education.
HART of Folsomreceived $5,000 to support its Transitional Housing Program, which provides safe housing, professional case management and community support for individuals working toward employment, stability and permanent housing. The program helps clients build life skills, access resources and move toward long-term independence.
Folsom’s Hopereceived $5,000 to support its High School Internship Program, which provides students with structured opportunities to build leadership, communication, job readiness and mentoring skills. Interns gain resume-building experience, support younger students in after-school programs, participate in career development activities and receive a stipend upon successful completion.
Powerhouse Ministriesreceived $5,000 to support expansion of Folsom’s homeless drop-in center through the creation of a shower and laundry facility. The project will provide essential hygiene services, restore dignity, improve health and help individuals become more job-ready through access to clean clothing and showers.
Jake’s Journey Home, which is headquartered in neighboring Orangevale but serves the Folsom community in a large way received $5,000.Funds will support the organization’s Community Assistance Center, which helps individuals and families experiencing housing instability, food insecurity, medical challenges, and other barriers to self-sufficiency. The program provides personalized case management, resource navigation, transportation assistance, and connections to housing, healthcare, and supportive services.
Folsom Athletic Associationreceived $5,000 to support its Youth Assistance and Senior Scholarships Program, helping families offset the rising costs of youth sports registration and equipment while also supporting graduating seniors pursuing college, trade and technical programs, military service, academies, cosmetology or other post-graduation pathways.
Friends of the Folsom Libraryreceived $5,000 to expand family access to early literacy, STEM learning and technology through age-appropriate books, STEM kits and user-friendly 3D printers. The project will support educational outcomes, hands-on learning, digital inclusion and continued engagement with library resources for children and families.
Sutter Street Theatrereceived $5,000 to support community outreach, service and arts education through elementary school field trips, performances at assisted living facilities and scholarships for teens to participate in advanced musical theatre workshops. The project will bring arts experiences to youth, seniors and residents who may otherwise have limited access.
Rodriguez represents Sacramento County Supervisorial District 4, which includes the cities of Folsom and Citrus Heights, along with the unincorporated communities of Orangevale, Antelope, North Highlands, Rio Linda, Elverta and Rancho Murieta.
