Popular regional band brings rock, pop, hip-hop and country favorites across the decades to the free Twilight Concert Series
From Van Halen and Def Leppard to The Cure, Eric Church and even the Backstreet Boys, there will be plenty of musical ground covered Thursday night when The Wayside takes the stage in Historic Folsom for the latest installment of the 2026 Twilight Concert Series.
The free concert runs from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Zittel Family Amphitheater, where The Wayside will bring a genre-spanning show built around familiar songs from across the decades. Rock, pop, hip-hop and country all have a place in the band’s catalog, giving Thursday’s audience a setlist that can move from hard-driving guitar riffs to ’80s alternative, ’90s favorites and modern country without staying in any one musical lane for long.
Presented by Bernau Development Corporation in partnership with the Folsom Historic District Association, the Twilight Concert Series is nearing the home stretch of its 13-week summer season. The weekly concerts have brought a different musical style to the amphitheater each Thursday, with The Wayside continuing that variety this week.
The band’s repertoire reaches across generations and genres, with music from Van Halen, Def Leppard, AC/DC and The Cure sharing space with Eric Church, House of Pain, Backstreet Boys and other familiar artists. Even Neil Diamond’s enduring singalong “Sweet Caroline” finds its way into the mix.
It’s a setlist that plays more like a musical trip through several decades than a tribute to any single era. One stretch of the show might lean heavily into guitar-driven rock before shifting into pop, hip-hop or country, allowing The Wayside to draw from songs familiar to several generations of concertgoers.
That broad catalog has helped make the band a regular presence on the Northern California live music circuit. The Wayside has years of experience performing at clubs, breweries, weddings, community events and regional festivals, developing a show centered on recognizable music and audience interaction.
Rather than simply moving from song to song, the band is known for engaging the crowd throughout its performances, using its varied playlist to keep the pace moving and the audience involved. The result is a show designed as much for those who want to dance as those who simply want to sing along to songs they know.
Thursday’s concert comes as the Twilight Concert Series enters the final weeks of its 2026 schedule. This year’s lineup has moved through a broad range of musical styles, from classic rock and country to funk, soul, New Wave and pop.
The series continues Aug. 20 with Daze on the Green before Adam Aldama & The Aces take the stage Aug. 27 for the final Thursday night concert of the season.
As with each Twilight concert, attendees can make an evening of their visit to Historic Folsom by arriving before showtime for dinner, drinks or shopping along Sutter Street and throughout the surrounding Historic District. Concertgoers are encouraged to arrive early for seating at the amphitheater.
The 2026 Twilight Concert Series is made possible through the support of numerous local sponsors and community partners. Bernau Development Corporation serves as the presenting sponsor for this year’s series, while Folsom Times returns as the series platinum sponsor. The Wayside takes the stage Thursday from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Zittel Family Amphitheater in Historic Folsom. Admission to the Twilight Concert Series is free.
