Local emcee, software developer Adam Frick hosts the debut of a new interactive trivia experience Tuesday evening at Historic Folsom’s Gaslight Co.

Trivia goes 2.0 on Tuesday as Folsom Times brings technology to one of America’s favorite game night traditions with the public debut of a new live interactive trivia platform at Gaslight Co. in Historic Folsom.

Unlike traditional trivia nights that rely on paper answer sheets, participants simply scan a QR code, join the game from their mobile device and answer questions in real time. Scores are updated instantly, allowing players to watch the leaderboard change throughout the competition.

The platform was developed by software developer Adam Frick, founder of All Town Media, the company behind Folsom Times and Folsom TV, with the goal of creating a faster, more interactive trivia experience while eliminating the delays associated with collecting and grading paper answer sheets. Every response is recorded immediately, providing real-time scoring for both players and the host.

Tuesday’s event also serves as the launch of a broader vision for recurring trivia nights throughout the community. The system has been designed to support a variety of game formats, including general knowledge, pop culture, local history and themed events.

“We wanted to create something that modernizes trivia while keeping all the fun and friendly competition people already love,” Frick said. “This is our first public game, and we’re excited to see the community experience it for the first time.”

The event is open to everyone and is designed for individual players. Both experienced trivia enthusiasts and first-time participants are encouraged to attend and will have the opportunity to win various prizes including limited edition Folsom Times America 250th apparel, Gaslight Gift Cards, tickets to local events including the California State Fair and family packs to the Folsom Aquatic Center and more.

The inaugural live trivia event will take place Tuesday, July 14, at 7 p.m. at Gaslight Co., 718 Sutter St. in Historic Folsom.  The event is open to the public, and participants are encouraged to bring a mobile device, test their knowledge and be part of the debut of Folsom’s newest interactive entertainment experience. Folsom Times connects community beyond local news

Tuesday’s live trivia debut represents more than just a new game night. It is the latest public launch in a growing suite of technology developed by All Town Media aimed at helping residents connect with local news, events and businesses in new ways.

The trivia platform follows the recent launch of the official Folsom Times mobile app, now available through both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Together, the app and live trivia system are part of a broader technology initiative that has quietly been under development for more than a year.

Among the company’s largest projects is a community calendar ecosystem designed to simplify event promotion throughout the region. Rather than requiring organizations, businesses and event promoters to submit the same information to multiple websites, the platform allows events to be managed from a single location while publishers can display those listings on their own websites through custom-built WordPress plugins.

The result is a growing network of connected community calendars that has become one of the region’s largest local event platforms, making it easier for residents to discover concerts, fundraisers, festivals, business events, nonprofit activities and community gatherings.

In addition to the calendar platform, All Town Media has developed native mobile applications for Apple and Android devices, the LoopCast digital signage platform, interactive games, live and self-guided trivia experiences, downloadable PDF versions of news stories and other digital tools designed to expand how residents access local information.

Collectively, the platforms provide multiple ways for people to stay connected, whether reading Folsom Times on a mobile device, discovering events through the community calendar network, watching Folsom TV or visiting local businesses that feature LoopCast digital displays.

“We’ve always believed that great communities are built through connections,” Frick said. “Our goal has never been to simply build software. We’re building tools that help people discover what’s happening around them, support local organizations and make it easier for our community to stay connected. We’re incredibly excited about what this means for Folsom and where we can take it in the future.”

The company’s expanding technology portfolio also includes Folsom TV, which extends local programming beyond websites and mobile devices to streaming television platforms, including Amazon Fire TV, Roku and other connected TV services. The platform features local news, community events, entertainment programming, interactive games, on-screen trivia and live trivia experiences that can be customized for local businesses and venues.

As attendees at the recent Folsom Times ribbon-cutting celebration experienced firsthand, the company’s expanding suite of technology is designed to work together as an interconnected local information network. Guests were able to see demonstrations of the Folsom Times mobile app, Folsom TV streaming platform, interactive trivia system and other digital tools that continue to broaden the ways residents can stay informed and engaged with their community.

The launch of the live trivia platform marks another step in the evolution of Folsom Times and All Town Media, which have expanded from a startup local news organization into a multi-platform community media and technology company serving the greater Folsom region. While the technology continues to evolve, the company’s mission remains focused on helping residents stay informed, discover what’s happening locally and strengthen connections throughout the community.
