The fire was reported at approximately 4:34 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, along the northbound lanes of Folsom Boulevard near Iron Point Road. Folsom Fire Department Engine 36 responded to the incident, along with units from the Folsom Police Department.
When firefighters arrived, they found a full-size pickup truck fully engulfed in flames in the northbound lanes near the light rail station.
The occupants of the vehicle had safely evacuated the truck before firefighters arrived, and no injuries were reported.
Firefighters worked to extinguish the burning vehicle while police officers assisted with traffic control. Northbound traffic on Folsom Boulevard was delayed as emergency crews occupied the roadway, creating delays for motorists traveling through the busy corridor during the Thursday afternoon commute.
The incident occurred adjacent to the light rail station and just north of the Iron Point Road intersection. Motorists approaching the area encountered stopped and backed-up traffic while firefighters worked at the scene.
