The Folsom City Council unanimously approved a roof replacement project Tuesday for portions of the city’s Water Treatment Plant as officials continue maintenance upgrades at the critical facility that supports Folsom’s municipal water system.
Council members approved a resolution authorizing the city manager to execute a contract with Waterproofing Associates Inc. in the amount of $89,780 for the replacement of roofing at the Water Treatment Plant. The total authorized project budget is $103,247, which includes contingency and related project costs funded through the Water Operating Fund.
According to the staff report presented to the council, the existing roof areas at the facility have deteriorated and are in need of replacement to prevent further water intrusion and maintain the integrity of the buildings at the treatment plant.
City officials said the project specifically addresses aging roofing materials that have reached the end of their service life. The replacement work is intended to improve protection of equipment and operational areas at the facility while reducing future maintenance concerns.
The project was competitively bid, with Waterproofing Associates Inc. selected as the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. Staff noted the project will be funded through existing Water Operating Fund allocations already budgeted for facility maintenance and repairs.
The Water Treatment Plant is a key component of Folsom’s utility infrastructure, processing and delivering potable water throughout the city. Officials regularly schedule maintenance and rehabilitation projects at the site to help ensure continued reliability of the system and avoid larger infrastructure failures in the future.
Construction timing and coordination details were expected to be handled by city staff following approval of the contract Tuesday night.
