There are restaurants you visit for dinner. And then there are restaurants you enter as if stepping into a story. Folsom’s Bacchus House is the latter.
Tucked quietly into Folsom’s central shopping square, unassuming in address but celebrated in reputation, Bacchus House has long been one of those places spoken of with admiration and just a touch of envy. “You’ve never been?” people ask, eyebrows raised. “You simply must go.”
So when word spread that the beloved restaurant would house the Murer House Foundation’s biggest fundraiser of the year on June 25, curiosity turned to excitement—and tickets began looking like treasure.
I could only imagine what the planning pilgrimage to Bacchus House was like to meet with its gracious owners, discuss the menu, and somehow determine how 125 fortunate guests might dine inside this elegant jewel box of a restaurant. I visualized the doors opening, my imagination supplied a soundtrack—something triumphant, like the old western marshal striding through swinging saloon doors as every head turns.
Only this was no dusty saloon.
This was chandeliers casting warm light over rich draperies, polished details gleaming from every corner, and the unmistakable atmosphere of a place where celebrations become memories. Bacchus House does not decorate rooms—it stages experiences.
And then there was the food.
How could anyone improve upon perfection? Yet Bacchus House seems determined to try.
A steaming dish arrived, fragrant with mushrooms, rich with savory promise: stroganoff in a sauce so velvety it deserved applause of its own. It was presented with the confidence and ceremony of a knight serving a king. Every plate, every flourish, every aroma announced the same truth: this is dining elevated to art.
Yet what makes this upcoming evening truly extraordinary is not only the cuisine or the setting.
It is generosity.
The owners of Bacchus House—deeply respected throughout the community for their excellence, warmth, and unwavering support of worthy causes—have once again stepped forward to help the Murer House Foundation. They are housing this remarkable fundraiser dinner to benefit the creation of the new Learning Center, an important next chapter for one of Folsom’s treasured historic landmarks.
That means every ticket purchased helps preserve history, expand education, and strengthen community—while giving guests an unforgettable night in one of the city’s most sought-after dining rooms.
Some evenings are ordinary.
Others become the ones people talk about for years:
