A quick call to 911 from an observant citizen helped the Folsom Police Department nab a car burglary suspect moments after committing the alleged crime on the streets of Folsom in the early morning hours Thursday.
Just before 4:00 A.M. Thursday, Folsom Police Patrol Officers were dispatched to the report of a burglary that had just occurred.
A Folsom Citizen was woken up by the sound of glass breaking. The citizen watched out her window and observed a subject break into a vehicle that was parked on the street.
The citizen was able to provide a description to responding officers of the suspect vehicle, which was a very distinct yellow Nissan SUV with a bike rack.
Officers located the vehicle a short distance away and detained a subject matching the description provided by the alert citizen.
Additional responding officers were able to contact the owner of the vehicle that was burglarized and confirmed tools had been stolen. The information was relayed to the Officers that had the subject detained. The suspect was on probation for prior narcotic related charges. During a probation search of the vehicle, the stolen tools were located.
Michael Harris, 50, of Rancho Cordova was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail for Burglary, according to the report by the Folsom Police Department.
