Firefighters from the Folsom Fire Department, with assistance from the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District, responded to a structure fire in a residential home located on the 800 block of Morton Way in Folsom Saturday night. 

According to information provided by the Folsom Fire Department, the occupant of the home dialed 911 and notified the Sacramento Regional Fire Communications Center of the fire at approximately 8:50 p.m.

Firefighters arrived on the scene to find light smoke coming from the garage of a large two story home. Fire crews searched the living space to insure no additional occupants or pets were in danger and proceeded to aggressively attacked the garage fire. 

Fire personnel reportedly extinguished the fire within 10 minutes of the first arriving fire engine. 

The fire was contained to the garage. The residents were able to re-occupy the home that night. The cause of the fire is suspected to be an electrical malfunction.

The home was equipped with working smoke detectors.

A total of four engine companies, one truck company and two paramedic ambulances were dispatched to the scene, along with one chief officer. A total of 35 firefighters assisted with the incident.
