More than 300 volunteer crew and cast members from Folsom, El Dorado Hills and the surround communities will come together in the true spirit of Christmas for multiple presentations of the biblical account of the birth of Jesus Christ in a live nativity that will take place over three different nights next week.

Presented by the Folsom Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints The family-friendly, outdoor live nativity, “O Come Let us Adore Him,” will run Friday, December 8 through Sunday, December 10, with performances starting each night at 6:00 p.m. and beginning every 15 minutes until the last showing at 8:00 p.m.

The Live Nativity is open to the public and located at 2110 California Circle, right across from the Folsom Auto Mall. The event will feature Mary and Joseph, live shepherds, ornately-dressed wisemen, an angel choir, and recorded scriptural narration from the New Testament.

Several different newborn babies will make their acting debut as the Baby Jesus, the central figure of the event and the season.  “Children watch and wait to see if it’s a real baby,” says Heather McCauley, who is back for her third year as the Live Nativity director. “We call it a ‘live nativity’ because we want to take people to that moment, to feel like they are a part of that scene in Bethlehem.”

“This live nativity presentation is our gift to the community, an expression of our love for Jesus Christ, and a chance to honor Him by celebrating His birth,” said Treaver Hodson, President of the Folsom Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  “We invite all to come and enjoy a few precious moments taking a ‘journey through Bethlehem’ to find peace, feel of God’s love, and discover the true meaning of Christmas,” said Mark Spicer, one of the event organizers.

Admission is free.  Reservations are encouraged to reduce wait times, but not required.  For more information and reservations, visit www.LiveNativity.org.
