The Folsom Police Department spent several hours on the scene of a fatal accident Monday evening on East Bidwell Street in Folsom near Orchard Drive in Folsom. 

At 5:07 p.m. units from the Folsom Fire Department, including Folsom’s Truck 35, Engine 37 and Medic 32, were dispatched to 905 East Bidwell Street.  Upon arrival, first responders reported one pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle near the entrance to Sprouts Market.  

Despite life-saving efforts, the pedestrian, reported to be an adult male, 67, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Bystanders at the scene reported that victim was a male, however, Folsom Police had not officially confirmed that report at the time. Folsom Fire and medic units were released from the scene after 28 minutes and Folsom remain on scene with one section of East Bidwell blocked off in south direction. The driver of the vehicle is reportedly cooperating with the investigation.

Folsom Police crash investigators remain on scene. Folsom Police released a statement at 6:05 p.m. that they expect southbound East Bidwell to remain closed between Montrose Drive and Orhard Drive for at least three hours and that motorists should plan an alternate route. The roadway reopened later in the evening.
