Sutter Street Theatre in Historic Folsom welcomes audience of all ages Saturday and Sunday afternoons to enjoy Suessical Kids in matinee performances through late July.

According to the show’s playbill, Suessical Kids transports audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat, the narrator of the show, tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos. Among the Whos is Jojo, a Who child, who gets in trouble for thinking too many “thinks.”

Horton’s challenge is twofold, not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must also guard an abandoned egg that’s been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird.

Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. The play is directed locally by Sarah Williams and musically directed by Hannah Hurst. It is based on the film by Daniel Walters.

The show takes the stage each Saturday and Sunday through July 23 at 1:00 p.m. and is a perfect way to kick off a family outing in Historic Folsom. Sutter Street Theatre’s Allen Schmeltz notes that the 45-minute performance is grand fun for little ones and the show is performed by young children.

Sutter Street Theatre is located in the heart of Folsom’s Historic District at 717 Sutter Street. For reservations and ticket pricing go to www.SutterStreetTheatre.com or call (916) 353-1001.
