The Boardwalk will be home to a bon voyage show Saturday night for an area band that has announced it is bringing its epic journey to a close. Warp 11, the band known for showcasing its catalog of songs all about Star Trek, will play its final show at the iconic Orangevale music venue, appropriately on May the fourth.

“It is with a cosmic mix of emotions that we, the intrepid officers of Warp 11, invite you to join us for our final show, concluding our 25-year mission,” the band said in a statement. “For more than two decades, we’ve navigated celestial waves of Romulan ale, singing songs of sex, drugs, and rock and roll. But as the old Klingon proverb says, the skill in attending a party is knowing when it’s time to leave and that time is now.”

We want all our crew members to know that this wasn’t an easy decision, and we want to thank everyone who banged their head, bought us a shot of peach schnapps, got a laugh, or simply got drunk listening to our music.

Based out of Sacramento, Warp 11’s music covers a wide range of styles including alternative, classic rock, punk, country, and blues. Many may remember the band when its members were interviewed in the Paramount Pictures documentary “Trekkies 2” or know them from their original song, “Everything I Do, I Do with William Shatner,” that was included in the television broadcast of the Comedy Central Roast of William Shatner.

The band came about back in 1999 when Karl Miller was working for an Internet broadcasting company, Play TV, making a streaming Internet video show about Star Trek and decided to form a band that only sang songs about Star Trek to fill time on the show.

Saturday’s final show starts at 9:00 p.m. Learn more on the venue’s website at www.rocktheboardwalk.com.
