One person was shot in Folsom Friday, initiating a manhunt for the suspect that eventually concluded with the arrest of a 31-year old Sacramento man who was located in the area.
At approximately 8:45 p.m. Friday night, Folsom Police were dispatched to an apartment complex near Duchow Way and Wales Drive in Folsom for a reported shooting According to radio traffic, one male adult was reportedly shot in the chest. Officers quickly rendered first aid to the victim and he was transported to UC Davis Medical Center.
Folsom Police, being assisted by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department began actively searching the area on both the ground and by air with the use of a sheriff’s helicopter for the suspect. The search also included the use of drone technology to search the immediate area and nearby structures that were not visible otherwise.
After their extensive search, Bryant Dion Coulson, 31, of Sacramento was apprehended later in the evening and taken into custody by Folsom Police. Coulson was booked at the Sacramento County Main Jail at 5:40 a.m. on Saturday. According to preliminary jail records, Coulson is being held without the eligibility of bail. He has been charged with Attempted Murder (PC 664/187(A)) and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon (PC 29800(A)(1)).
Previous arrest reports available for Coulson show he was arrested for Driving Under the Influence in November of 2019 in Sacramento County, a charge he was later arrested on for outstanding warrant in February 2020. Jail records indicate at this time that Coulson is schedule to be arraigned on July 30 at 3 p.m.
