A Saturday afternoon swim on the waters of Folsom Lake turned deadly Saturday after an accident involving a rope swing near the Rattlesnake Bar boat launch facility.
According to California State Parks, park rangers were dispatched to the location along with emergency personnel after a 23-year-old woman, later identified as Kathryn Hoedt of Antelope, fell approximately 30 feet from a rope swing just north of Rattlesnake Bar and landed on the shore.
According to the report, the victim was at the lake with friends who took her to the boat ramp. A bystander and off-duty doctor performed CPR while medics were en route. She was taken by ambulance to Sutter Roseville where she died from her injuries.
In the early morning hours KCRA posted condolences to the family of Hoedt. The local news station reported that Hoedt, known to her colleagues as Katie, was a producer at the station.
