The City of Folsom is calling on residents to help shape the future of one of its most cherished playgrounds. The Parks & Recreation Department will host a community meeting tonight, July 14, focused on gathering public input for the upcoming renovation of the Folsom Kids Play Park—fondly known as “Castle Park.”
The event, themed “Design Day,” begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Folsom Middle School Multipurpose Room, 500 Blue Ravine Road. All ages are encouraged to attend.
The city describes this as a family-friendly workshop where community members can learn about the project, participate in breakout discussions, and contribute creative ideas for the future play space. Both children and adults will have the chance to sketch their “dream playgrounds,” offering direct inspiration to the design team as they plan improvements to the park, located at 201 Prewett Drive.
First built by volunteers in 1996, the playground has long served as a destination for families, recognized for its whimsical wooden structures and imaginative design. As the city prepares to renovate the aging play area, planners are turning to the public for guidance on preserving its legacy while enhancing the features for a new generation of park visitors.
“Community participation is essential,” said the city in its announcement. “We want to ensure that the new design reflects the values, needs, and vision of Folsom families.”
Castle Park has long been a staple of the local landscape, and city leaders are eager to retain its magic while bringing it up to date with modern safety and accessibility standards.
