The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department has announced that three suspects have now been arrested in connection with a shooting in Fair Oaks last week that resulted in the death of a man known to the Folsom community.

On May 3, authorities responded to the area of Hillridge Way and Will Rogers Drive in Fair Oaks to a reported shooting. Upon arrival, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Deputies found a man bleeding heavily from a gunshot wound to the head who died shortly after officers arrived on the scene.

The victim was later identified as Vitaliy Zaytsev, 41. Zaytsev was known to many in the Folsom community as he was the manager of the Folsom CVS store located on Madison Avenue in Folsom, near the Orangevale community, where he was also well-known.

On Thursday, May 9, investigators announced that three different suspects have now been arrested in connection with the homicide. 36-year-old Miguel Esquivel and 40-year-old Michael Espinoza were both located and arrested in Idaho. A third suspect, Jeannette Nunes, 57, was located and arrested in San Jose. According to Sacramento County Sheriff’s Detective Neay Chhlang, cellphone data records, video, and Department of Transportation footage assisted investigators in locating the suspects. The incident is reported as being isolated, and the suspects knew the victim.

According to a media statement from CVS, Vitaliy was very well-liked among his coworkers and those across the communities of Folsom and Orangevale who patronized the store he managed. They also clarified that the shooting did not take place at the store and not related to the security of their stores.

“Vitaliy was well-liked and respected by his colleagues, customers, and community, and he will be greatly missed. We’ve offered counseling and support services to his coworkers and are fully cooperating with the police investigation. While there is no indication that this incident is related to security measures in our stores, the safety of our colleagues and customers while on our store premises is always a high priority,” the statement said.

While the investigation is ongoing to determine what led up to the shooting, detectives are asking for any information about the incident. Contact the Sheriff’s Departent if you have information regarding the incident.
