An ongoing series of performing organized thefts on area Best Buy stores came to an end for a trio of county men late Monday afternoon after they struck the retailer’s Folsom location and were nabbed by Folsom Police.
Just after 2 p.m. on Monday, employees from the Best Buy, located at 2445 Iron Point Road in Folsom called the Folsom Police 911 dispatch center to report that two men matching the description of those that had stolen merchandise from a Best Buy store in Roseville had come into the Folsom location and were gathering items inside the store.
Folsom Police officers quickly responded to the location, but the suspects had fled the area upon their arrival. Immediately initiating a search throughout the surrounding roadways, Folsom officers spotted the vehicle as it traveled on to westbound Highway 50. As officers attempted to perform a traffic stop, the suspects were observed tossing some of the alleged stolen merchandise from the front seat into the back seat of the vehicle before they yielded to officers near the Hazel Avenue exit.
As they approached the vehicle, officers discovered a third suspect was in the vehicle as well. All three of the suspects were safely detained as officers began searching the vehicle and identifying the suspects. It was discovered the three suspects matched the description of those that had reportedly worked together to perform additional acts of organized theft of electronics at Best Buy locations in Elk Grove, Roseville and Auburn before striking Folsom.
According to the details on a Folsom Police report released today, the stolen goods totaled over $10,000.
The three men that were arrested were identified by Folsom Police as Enrique Reyes Jr, 28, from Baldwin Park, Jonathan Sanchez, 27, from Wilmington, and Brandon Sargent, 37, from Los Angeles.
All three suspects were booked into the Sacramento County Jail on multiple charges including Grand Theft, Conspiracy, Possession of Stolen Property and Organized Retail Theft. Reyes faces and additional charge of violation of probation.
Investigators are following up and believe the group may be responsible for many more thefts all over California, according the report.
