A 67-year-old man that is reportedly a Sacramento County resident died in a single-vehicle accident early Wednesday morning on Auburn Folsom Road just beyond Morningside Drive, according to a report from the California Highway Patrol.
The location of the crash was in Granite Bay so the Placer County Coroner’s Office was the responding agency and has not yet released the man’s name after his family has been notified.
At approximately 1 a.m. Wednesday, first responders and the CHP were dispatched to the scene. According the CHP report, the victim was traveling southbound in a 2004 Saturn on Auburn Folsom Road. His vehicle reportedly left the roadway, and struck a large boulder before it rolled over.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no passengers in the vehicle, according to the CHP report.
The California Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash and determining whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the incident..
