Eight people were reportedly rescued from the swift waters of American River Saturday evening, according to the Sacramento Metro Fire Department.
Sacramento Metro’s Public Information officials reported that multiple units responded to a call of a capsized raft with multiple people in the water off of the Harrington access point near Rancho Cordova at approximately 7 pm Saturday.
According to the report, the victim’s raft hit a snag and tossed a total of eight people into the water who then became stranded on a nearby small island.
Responding units initiated the rescue operation from the Harrington access point. Three of those rescued were reportedly not wearing life jackets.
