Eatery built in 2012 will undergo extensive remodel starting in September

Chick-fil-A lovers in Folsom might want to grab that spicy deluxe with waffle fries while they can—because the city’s only location of the popular fast-food chain is preparing to close its doors for a significant remodel that will last nearly three months.

The Chick-fil-A restaurant at 2679 E. Bidwell Street, located in the heart of Broadstone Plaza, will temporarily shut down beginning September 25, with plans to remain closed for approximately 90 days while undergoing an extensive renovation. The remodel aims to modernize the busy location, which has served the Folsom community since it first opened in 2012.

A notice filed with the California Employment Development Department confirms the closure will result in temporary layoffs for 85 employees. The WARN Act requires employers to file at least 60 days in advance of layoffs affecting 50 or more people. Chick-fil-A submitted its notice on July 25, with plans to provide all final pay and applicable benefits to affected employees prior to the closure.

Though details of the renovation have not been disclosed, similar Chick-fil-A remodels have included improvements such as updated kitchen equipment, refreshed interiors, added drive-thru lanes, and expanded capacity to better serve high-volume locations. The Broadstone Plaza store is among the busiest in the region.

The restaurant is operated by Matt Crane of Crane Food Services LLC and is one of 10 Chick-fil-A locations in the Sacramento metro area. During the closure, customers can visit alternate sites in Granite Bay or Rancho Cordova to satisfy their cravings.
