ORANGEVALE—This Saturday, August 16, The Boardwalk is turning back the clock for 90’s Fest, an all-night tribute to the era that changed rock music forever. Four powerhouse tribute bands will deliver the sounds that defined a generation, covering Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots, No Doubt, and Weezer in one high-energy night. Even better—20 percent of concert proceeds will go to support local charities, making it a night of music with a mission.

Kicking things off is Soaked in Bleach, Sacramento’s newest tribute to Nirvana. Formed earlier this year, the band was created from a deep love for the music that redefined a generation. Nirvana’s raw sound and uncompromising spirit sparked a cultural shift in rock music, and Soaked in Bleach is committed to channeling that same explosive energy every time they take the stage. Their dedication to authenticity is fueling fast-growing momentum—and they’re just getting started. Fans can expect a set that captures the grit and urgency of the original performances, from the punk grit of “Blew” to the anthemic punch of “Smells Like Teen Spirit.”

Next up is Conversations Kill, a Stone Temple Pilots revival act that electrifies the stage with the biggest hits from STP’s legendary 1990s–2000s catalogue.

Frontman Mikey LP channels the haunting presence and vocal ferocity of Scott Weiland, backed by Mike Strickland on bass and backing vocals, Kelsey Mayer on lead guitar, and David Ortolivo on drums. The band brings all the adrenaline, alternative rock vibes, and melodic punch that made STP one of the defining bands of the grunge and post-grunge eras. Fans can expect faithful renditions of “Plush,” “Interstate Love Song,” “Vasoline,” and other staples that sold millions worldwide.

Rocksteady, the No Doubt tribute that grew from Bay Area favorite to a NorCal staple, keeps the party rolling with an infectious, dance-floor-filling set. Covering everything from the ska-punk swagger of Tragic Kingdom to the glossy pop polish of Return of Saturn, they also weave in hits from Gwen Stefani’s solo career. Known for their ability to get the crowd moving and singing along, Rocksteady makes it nearly impossible to stay in your seat when “Just a Girl,” “Don’t Speak,” and “Hella Good” hit the speakers.

Closing the night is In The Garage (ITG), Northern California’s favorite—and only—Weezer tribute band. With a focus on The Blue Album and Pinkerton, they also mix in deeper cuts, B-sides, and newer tracks from Weezer’s extensive catalogue. Their shows are as much about audience connection as they are about the music, encouraging fans to lean into the nostalgia: “Throw on your favorite cardigan, bust out those Buddy Holly glasses, and let’s sing some Weezer songs together. Oh wee oh!” From the jangly fun of “Buddy Holly” to the heartfelt longing of “El Scorcho,” ITG delivers a set that feels like a reunion with old friends.
