The historic Murer House and Gardens will host its 9th Annual Camellia Show and Competition on Feb. 22, 2025, inviting the public to admire and showcase the iconic blooms. The event, held at 1125 Joe Murer Court, runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is free to attend.
Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from Greg Gayton of Green Acres Nursery, who will share expert growing tips in a presentation at 11 a.m. The Camellia Society of Sacramento will also be on hand to help identify camellia varieties and answer gardening questions.
The public is encouraged to participate in the competition by entering up to five blooms or floral arrangements, with submissions accepted starting at 9:30 a.m. Ribbons will be awarded in multiple categories, including the coveted “People’s Choice” award.
In addition to the floral showcase, a drawing for camellia plants will take place at 1:30 p.m. Visitors can also enjoy free tours of the Murer House and Gardens, which was built in 1925 by Italian immigrant Guiseppe Murer and remains a cherished local landmark.
