The magic of the holiday season is returning to Folsom — and so is one of the community’s most beloved traditions. Folsom Times and the City of Folsom have once again partnered up to host the annual Folsom Holiday Lights Contest, inviting residents and businesses to deck their halls, light up their blocks, and spread festive cheer across the city.
This free community contest celebrates creativity, holiday spirit, and neighborhood pride. Participants are encouraged to decorate their homes or businesses for the season and enter for a chance to earn bragging rights and special prizes fromFolsom Timesalong with numerous area businesses.
Contest Categories
The 2025 contest features five fun categories to showcase every kind of holiday display:
- Holly Jolly Residence– Best overall residential display
- Clark Griswold– Best use of holiday lights
- Hollywood Christmas– Best use of a theme or fictional characters
- Merry and Bright Business– Best business or storefront display, including window painting
- Illuminate the Block– Best multi-house neighborhood display
How to Enter
Registration is open now and free to all Folsom residents and businesses. The deadline to register your home or business isFriday, December 12. Only registered participants will be judged, so make sure to sign up before the deadline. Visit theOFFICIAL REGISTRATION PAGE HEREto enter.
Recognition and Prizes
Folsom Times, in collaboration with their advertising partners and the local business community, will be providing a number of special prizes for the winners of each category. These prizes will range from local dinners and family activities to retail gift cards and more. More details on the specific prizes will be announced by Folsom Times after December 1, 2025.
Winners will also receive a colorful yard sign celebrating their achievement when the winning homes are announced, recognition at FolsomTimes.com, will be honored during a future Folsom City Council meeting, and featured in the City of Folsom e-newsletter and on the city’s official social media channels. In addition, Folsom Times will be presenting decorative winners plaques for each of the catagories this year at the same council meeting.
