Firefighters from the Folsom Fire Department with mutual aid from El Dorado Hills Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire on Montrose Drive in Folsom Friday night.
Following a 911 call reporting flames and smoke coming from a garage, a total of four engine companies, two truck companies, one paramedic ambulance, and two chief officers were dispatched to the scene. While units were enroute, Folsom Police officers on scene confirmed that there was a working fire.
Firefighters first on the scene arrived to find a working fire in a garage attached to a residential duplex, according to Folsom Fire Department Battalion Chief Nick Lawlor.
The crews quickly attacked the fire with hose streams while simultaneously checking the primary fire unit and the exposure fire unit for victims. A search for victims was completed in both units to confirm all of the residents had evacuated.
The active fire was extinguished within 7 minutes. The quick work of firefighters limited damage to the garage area and prevented further spread into to the living spaces. Salvage and overhaul operations were then conducted to save personal property, according to a report released by the Folsom Fire Department.
A total of 6 people were displaced by the fire. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Folsom Fire Department Investigation Unit. No injuries were reported.
