The Folsom Lake College Women’s Soccer Team received a standing ovation at Tuesday’s City Council meeting as officials honored the Falcons for their back-to-back victories in the California Community College Athletic Association (3C2A) State Championships.

With a dominant 21-1-2 record in 2024, the Falcons secured their second consecutive state title with a championship win at American River College. The achievement makes them the first Northern California college team since 1996 to win back-to-back 3C2A championships.

During the meeting, Mayor Sarah Aquino presented a Resolution of Commendation, highlighting the team’s hard work, resilience, and excellence.

“The Folsom Lake College Women’s Soccer Team has demonstrated excellence, determination, and sportsmanship, winning back-to-back California Community College Athletic Association (3C2A) State Championships in 2023 and 2024, marking a historic achievement as they became the first Northern California college to accomplish this feat since 1996,” Aquino said. “On behalf of the Folsom City Council and the Folsom community, I extend commendations in the highest regard to the Folsom Lake College Women’s Soccer Team, coaching staff, and their supporters for their exceptional achievements in 2023 and 2024. The City looks forward to celebrating their continued success in the years to come.”

Beyond their state championship victory, the Falcons also dominated the Big 8 Conference, further proving their strength against top-tier competition. Players credited the team’s strong chemistry and commitment to excellence as keys to their success.
