Giving kids one more reason to be excited about the Christmas season, Lakeside Church is hosting Christmas Blitz for the children of the community on the evening of Friday, December 15. The date marks the last day of school before the holiday break for most schools, including FCUSD, and will kick off kids’ Christmas vacations with three and a half hours of pure fun and excitement.
“Christmas is such an incredible and fun time for kids, yet it’s so easy for all of us, including myself, to fill our calendars with Christmas parties and presents and sort of miss the reason for the season,” said Jen Jarvis, Lakeside’s children’s ministry pastor. “Christmas Blitz brings kids together for a night that captures the joy of the season and also points them to the true meaning of Christmas—God sending Jesus into the world because he loves us.”
This is the second year for Christmas Blitz, a one-night, high-energy Christmas extravaganza, reminiscent of Lakeside’s longtime and beloved summer kids camp, Summer Blitz.
“Kids in our community absolutely love Summer Blitz, and they can expect that same fun from the moment they arrive at Christmas Blitz,” Jarvis said. “I am so proud that we have a church community that prioritizes investing in kids. It is because of our amazing staff and volunteers that we are able to host crazy, fun, and safe kids events like this!”
Jarvis and her team of staff and volunteers have been working behind the scenes for months to create a memorable experience. Based around the theme “Christmas Road Trip,” children will move through various stations on the Lakeside campus and enjoy playing games, singing and dancing, getting creative in a Christmas workshop, eating dinner, and hearing the Christmas story through a creative live drama about a family who is discovering what Christmas is all about.
