RANCHO CORDOVA – The Rancho Cordova Police Department (RCPD) is continuing its efforts to curb dangerous sideshow activity, a growing problem that puts public safety at risk.
During a recent patrol, an RCPD DUI Enforcement Officer spotted a white sedan performing reckless “donuts” in the middle of Folsom Boulevard. Several bystanders were seen filming the dangerous stunt as the vehicle spun out of control.
Acting accordingly, the officer conducted a traffic stop, detained the driver, and issued a citation for Reckless Driving (23103 CVC). In addition to the citation, the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

Sideshows are illegal street takeovers where drivers perform stunts such as donuts and burnouts—have been increasing in frequency throughout the region and across the country. These reckless gatherings pose significant threats to public safety, often leading to crashes, injuries, and even fatalities.

RCPD has made it clear that cracking down on sideshows remains a top priority. “These types of reckless driving incidents jeopardize the safety of the public, and we are committed to holding violators accountable,” the department stated.

Law enforcement officials urge the community to report any suspicious activity related to illegal street racing or sideshows. Residents can contact RCPD with tips to help keep Rancho Cordova’s roadways safe.
