This week’s Folsom Times Shelter Pet Spotlight, presented by Symmetry for Health of Folsom, features a distinguished older gentleman named Brownie. This sweet and gentle Pit Bull Terrier mix is looking for a loving home where he can enjoy his golden years in comfort. Brownie is currently in foster care through Sacramento County Animal Services.
Brownie is a neutered male, tan and gray Pit Bull Terrier mix, estimated to be about 10 years old. Weighing approximately 54 pounds, he may move a little slower than the youngsters, but that just gives him more time to enjoy life’s simple pleasures. He is an easygoing walking companion, takes treats gently, and is happiest when he’s by your side. While he hasn’t shown much interest in toys, he’s more than content just enjoying your company.
Like many senior dogs, Brownie is potty-trained and keeps his space clean—one of the many perks of adopting an older pup! He does well around other dogs and enjoys affection, making him a wonderful addition to a calm and loving home. The shelter is no place for this sweet old man, and if you have room in your life for Brownie, the gratitude and love he will show you will make every second worthwhile.
Brownie has participated in shelter playgroups and may enjoy a compatible canine friend in his new home. If you’re looking for a buddy for your dog, bring them to the shelter for a meet-and-greet to see if they’re a match!
Since Brownie is currently in foster care, those interested in meeting him should contact the Foster Coordinators at foster@saccounty.gov for more information.
If you’d like to see other adoptable pets, visit Sacramento County Animal Care Services at 3839 Bradshaw Road, Sacramento. The shelter is open for adoptions Tuesday through Sunday from noon to 5 p.m., with extended hours until 6 p.m. on Wednesdays. Adoptions are first-come, first-served, so don’t forget to bring a valid ID and plan your visit soon. Available pets can also be viewed online at the shelter website at: https://animalcare.saccounty.gov.
By adopting Brownie—or one of his shelter friends—you’ll not only gain a loyal companion but also help create space for another pet in need. Brownie is ready to spend his golden years showering his new family with love.
