EL DORADO HILLS – A head-on collision claimed the life of a woman and left three others injured, including two young children, on Saturday morning in El Dorado Hills, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 7:54 a.m. on Green Valley Road, just east of Silva Valley Parkway. CHP officials said a 2023 Dodge Charger was traveling eastbound while a 2023 Toyota Camry was heading westbound on the same roadway, both reportedly driving at approximately 55 miles per hour.

Investigators believe the Dodge Charger veered off the south edge of the road and struck a raised asphalt curb. The vehicle then reentered the roadway, crossed over the double yellow lines, and collided head-on with the oncoming Toyota Camry.

The driver of the Camry, identified as 84-year-old Joan Allison of Cameron Park, was pronounced dead at the scene.

All three occupants of the Dodge Charger were transported to the hospital. The driver, 34-year-old Cheyenne Wright, sustained major injuries. A 7-year-old boy and a 3-year-old girl riding in the vehicle were also transported with injuries.

CHP said the crash remains under active investigation. Authorities have not ruled out the involvement of alcohol or drugs as a contributing factor. Green Valley Road was temporarily closed in both directions Saturday while crews worked the scene an during the investigation
