Folsom Police have announced that they have made an arrest in connection with a recent Fentanyl overdose in the city that resulted in the death of a 19-year-old Folsom resident. 

The original incident took place on Dec 6  at approximately 6 p.m. after Folsom Police Officers and personnel from the Folsom Fire Department responded to the report of a suspected Fentanyl overdose on the 100 block of Witmer Drive. Despite lifesaving efforts, including the administration of Naloxone (Narcan), on the scene, the overdose victim, 19-year-old female was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the victim has been withheld at this time at the request of police and the family.

Following the initial response, detectives with the Folsom Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) responded to take over the investigation. Detectives worked around the clock to identify the individual responsible for providing the fatal dose of Fentanyl to the deceased. Through their investigation, SIU Detectives identified Dante Robinson, 20, of Carmichael. Detectives later took Robinson into custody at his residence on the 4800 Block of El Camino Avenue.

Robinson was transported to the Sacramento County Main Jail where he was booked for homicide and the possession of a controlled substance for sale. The Sacramento County District Attorney has since filed charges against Robinson and he was arraigned Tuesday. He is currently being held without bail as the investigation continues.

“Fentanyl has become more and more prevalent in our community and the Folsom Police Department would like to remind you of how dangerous it is. If you or a loved one suffer from drug addiction, please ask for help,” reads a statement from the Folsom Police Department. “We are here for everyone in need and there are lots of resources out there to help!”
