PLACERVILLE – Fire crews responded swiftly Wednesday afternoon to a vegetation fire in El Dorado County that prompted immediate evacuation orders and warnings near the White Cloud Road and Georgetown Road area near Placerville.
Named the Mobile Fire, the blaze broke out in a rugged area of El Dorado County and quickly led to a Level 3 “Go” evacuation order for residents in the White Cloud Road vicinity. Additional Level 2 “Set” evacuation warnings were issued for the surrounding area, including Shoo Fly Road, north of Nelson Canyon Road, east of Pyramid View Lane, and west of White Cloud Road in a half-mile radius.
According to incident command updates, forward progress of the fire has been successfully stopped thanks to coordinated efforts from both ground and aerial firefighting resources. Crews continue to secure containment lines and monitor hotspots to prevent flare-ups in the dry terrain.
The fire remains active, but progress in halting its spread has been effective. Emergency responders acted quickly to protect nearby homes and residents, leveraging air tankers and helicopters in conjunction with engines and hand crews on the ground.
