The spirit of the Wild West will ride back into Folsom this fall as the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Rodeo makes its highly anticipated return to the Dan Russell Rodeo Arena on Saturday, October 4. Now in its second year, organizers cite this year’s unique rodeo promises a bigger, bolder, and even more exciting experience for fans of all ages—and it’s all for a good cause.
The 2025 event builds on the momentum of last year’s successful debut, bringing back fan-favorite events such as bull riding, breakaway roping, barrel racing, and the always-adorable mutton busting for the youngest rodeo hopefuls. New for this year is the inaugural Sacramento County Sheriff’s Rodeo Queen Contest, where the first-ever queen will be crowned in what is expected to become a cherished tradition.
In a move sure to please ticket buyers, this year’s event eliminates all service fees, making it easier than ever to secure a seat for a night of high-octane rodeo action under the arena lights. With cooler October temperatures, fans can enjoy the festivities in crisp fall air—an ideal setting for rodeo thrills.
But this rodeo is more than entertainment. Every cheer, ticket, and sponsor helps support the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Foundation, a nonprofit committed to enhancing law enforcement and public safety through community programs. Proceeds benefit scholarships, youth outreach efforts, gang and drug prevention initiatives, and resources for officers and their families.
The 2025 rodeo will showcase a full evening of events beginning with the Grand Entry Welcome and a patriotic kickoff. The night continues with the crowd-pleasing Sheriff’s Stampede, performances by rodeo entertainers, and high-stakes Pro-Am team roping competitions. Young riders will take center stage in the ever-popular mutton busting, while skilled athletes compete in breakaway roping, wild ride segments, and fast-paced barrel racing.
The action intensifies with the exhilarating hide race and the highly anticipated bull riding event. Fans can also look forward to the Toro Totter challenge, which blends daring and comedy in a crowd-favorite showdown. A live music performance will keep the energy high into the evening, with a fireworks display lighting up the Folsom sky to close out the celebration.
With something for everyone and a mission that benefits the greater Sacramento County community, this fall rodeo is shaping up to be one of the season’s signature events.
