A Sacramento man was arrested this week after allegedly threatening to “shoot up” the Sacramento County Main Jail and harm deputies, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.

According to details shared by the department, the incident began on July 24, when an unknown caller phoned the jail’s public line and made multiple threats of violence. The Sheriff’s Threat Management Unit launched an immediate investigation and quickly identified the suspect as 47-year-old Scott Lemar Brown of Sacramento.

With assistance from the Central Patrol Division, Brown was located and taken into custody. He was booked into the Main Jail on a felony charge of making criminal threats under Penal Code 422.

Brown remains in custody without eligibility for bail and is scheduled to appear in court on July 28. Due to state law, his booking photo will not be released to the public.

The Sheriff’s Office has not released any additional information about the motive behind the threats.
