It’s one last chance to make a splash under the stars as Folsom Parks & Recreation hosts its final Outdoor Movie Night of the summer tonight, August 2, at the Steve Miklos Aquatic Center. The gates open at 6:30 p.m. for an evening of water fun, family bonding, and a special movie screening.

Tonight’s featured film is Moana 2, set to begin at 8:30 p.m., and it’s free to attend. Families are invited to bring blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy the animated adventure on the lawn after an evening of swimming, sliding, and exploring the center’s popular inflatable obstacle course.

Moana 2 is a 2024 American animated musical adventure film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios. The second installment in the Moana franchise, the film was directed by David Derrick Jr., Jason Hand, and Dana Ledoux Miller from a screenplay by Miller and executive producer Jared Bush. Auliʻi Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson reprise their roles as Moana and Maui in a story set three years after the original. The film follows Moana as she reunites with the demigod Maui, assembles a team of young wayfinders, and sets off on a daring voyage to locate the lost island of Motufetu, break its curse, and restore the ancient connection between ocean communities.

The screening is presented in partnership with Folsom’s Palladio 16 Cinemas, joining with Folsom Parks & Recreation to bring this family-friendly movie night experience to the community as part of the city’s Summer Movie Night Series.
