As of today, community members can officially sign up to be part of one of Folsom’s most meaningful annual events: the 12th annual Folsom Community Service Day. Scheduled for Saturday, September 20, this citywide effort is now welcoming volunteers to register and choose from a wide array of service projects that will take place throughout the community.

More than 1,500 volunteers are needed this year to complete dozens of impactful projects, from beautifying local schools and parks to collecting food for families in need, caring for senior residents, restoring trails, and supporting local nonprofits. Registration for most projects is now open as of Monday, August 4. A second wave of sign-ups for Folsom Cordova Unified School District (FCUSD) projects will begin on Monday, September 1.

Community Service Day is the largest day of volunteerism in Folsom and has become a signature event for residents of all ages. Since the initiative began in 2014, more than 23,150 volunteers have stepped up to support more than 1,050 completed projects across the city.

In addition to hands-on community improvement work, volunteers have helped collect more than 645,000 pounds of food for Twin Lakes Food Bank, completed more than 620 home repairs and maintenance projects for seniors, assembled thousands of care packages for active-duty military members, and gathered donations of bikes, eyeglasses, pet supplies, toiletries, and holiday gifts for nonprofit groups.

The program is organized by the City of Folsom in collaboration with local businesses, nonprofits, service groups, and churches. Projects span a wide variety of needs, and volunteers are encouraged to sign up early to reserve their spot. Roles are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, and space may be limited for some projects. While families and friends are welcome to sign up, project teams cannot guarantee placement in the same group.

Community Service Day continues to thrive thanks to the commitment of its residents and the strong support of its sponsors. The event not only improves the city’s infrastructure and resources, but it also strengthens the sense of unity and pride that defines Folsom.
