Roseville’s Community Needs Team was deployed to communicate with the suspect, and after negotiations he exited the home peacefully and was taken into custody.

Gregory has been professor of health education at Folsom Lake College and has also served as the college’s head baseball coach.

The Folsom Lake College website notes that Gregory’s baseball career began at West Valley College before he transferred to San Jose City College, where he earned All-America honors as an outfielder. He later played at Chico State, earning West Region Player of the Year in 1998, and went on to a professional stint with the Atlanta Braves followed by a year in independent league baseball. In recognition of his achievements, Gregory was inducted into the Chico State Athletic Hall of Fame in 2011.

His coaching career started at San Jose City College as an outfield and hitting coach before taking on the same role at Chico State. After the 2003 season, Gregory stepped away from baseball to focus on his family, returning in 2009 as a coach at Vista del Lago High School. When Folsom Lake College launched its baseball program in 2015, he became the team’s inaugural head coach, a position he continues to hold. Gregory is also a father of three children.
