LeRoid David honored for Bay Area design as global spotlight shines on local artist
A Sacramento County employee is receiving international recognition after his artwork was selected as the official FIFA World Cup 26 San Francisco Bay Area Host City Poster.
LeRoid David, a Senior Office Assistant with the County’s Public Administrator/Guardian/Conservator’s Office, was chosen by FIFA and the Bay Area Host Committee as part of a global campaign to showcase local artists from the 16 host cities for the 2026 tournament. David, a second-generation Filipino American and Bay Area native now living in Sacramento, called the achievement a dream come true.
“It still feels like a dream, me winning this and getting to share my art on this scale,” David said. “I share this with my family, my community and the people I work with here at Sacramento County.”
His bold design layers the Golden Gate and Bay Bridges rising through the fog, symbolizing culture and connection, with Levi’s Stadium at its center—where six FIFA matches will be played. Surrounding it are vibrant patterns reflecting the region’s diversity.
While David’s art now carries global visibility, his daily role remains focused on community service. In his work under the Department of Child, Family and Adult Services, he supports vulnerable adults and seniors facing challenges such as severe mental illness or the absence of next of kin.
“Some people think of it as just paperwork, but it’s meaningful work,” David said. “These are heartbreaking, deeply personal cases, and I couldn’t be prouder to be part of this work.”
Since joining the County more than five years ago, David has advanced from Office Assistant II to his current senior role. It’s his first position in public service after years spent in hospitality and retail. He credits his work-life balance at the County with allowing him the opportunity to pursue art on weekends.
Recently, David was surprised at the office by County Executive David Villanueva and Deputy County Executive Chevon Kothari, joined by cheering colleagues. The Board of Supervisors also recognized him with a formal resolution at its Tuesday meeting.
“Sacramento has always been a second home,” David said. “Now I get to live here, raise my kids here and serve this community. I love it here.”
For David, the international spotlight only strengthens his connection to home.
“We aren’t just 9-to-5 workers here at the County,” he said. “We’re parents, artists, volunteers, people with lives who care about this community. I take a lot of pride in working for Sacramento County.”
