Jam CT, Nipper Brothers, Power Play, Chris O’Leary complete weekend at Historic Folsom venue

FOLSOM — The heat may be lingering outside, but Historic Folsom’s Powerhouse is keeping things cool this weekend with another packed lineup of live entertainment at 614 Sutter Street. From 80s and 90s classics to the timeless sounds of the Grateful Dead, high-energy party hits, and raw American blues, Powerhouse promises a three-day celebration that covers every corner of the musical map.

The weekend kicks off Friday, September 5, with the TGIF Early Show featuring The Funnels at 7 p.m. Voted the best band in Chico six years in a row, The Funnels deliver an upbeat mix of originals alongside dance-driven covers of artists like The Talking Heads, The Pretenders, Joan Jett, INXS, U2, The Cure, and more. With over three decades of performing across Northern California, the Bay Area, and Southern Oregon, the band brings an infectious energy and a loyal following of Chico alumni that guarantees a lively start to the weekend.

Later Friday night, Jam CT takes the stage at 10 p.m. Known for their crowd-pleasing rock and dance covers, this Northern California band keeps the dance floor packed deep into the night with a mix designed to get audiences moving.

Saturday, September 6, opens with a special Saturday Afternoon Dance Party at 3 p.m. featuring the Nipper Brothers. This Northern California group pays tribute to Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead with a passion and reverence that shines through every performance. Their shows focus on capturing the shared experience between band and audience, with close attention to vocal harmonies and the poetic lyrics of Hunter and Barlow. Fans can expect to be transported to the heart of a classic Grateful Dead concert.

The party continues Saturday night at 10 p.m. with Power Play, a powerhouse dance cover band that seamlessly jumps from Lady Gaga to Johnny Cash to Eminem. With versatile vocalists and a hard-driving rhythm section, Power Play delivers a high-energy show that spans genres and generations, keeping the vibe electric until closing.

The weekend wraps up Sunday, September 7, with the Powerhouse of Blues series featuring Chris O’Leary at 3 p.m. O’Leary’s blues roots run deep — he was the lead singer and front man for Levon Helm’s band, The Barnburners, touring across the U.S. and Canada for six years. Along the way, he has shared stages with legends including Bobby Keys of the Rolling Stones, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Jeff Healy, and James Cotton. His debut album “Mr. Used to Be” won the 2011 Blues Blast Award for Best New Artist Debut and earned a nomination at the American Blues Music Awards. His powerful vocals and gritty harmonica work promise a blues performance to remember.
