RANCHO CORDOVA—Cordova High School welcomed nearly 200 student-athletes to its Performing Arts Center this week for the annual Lancer Athletic Leadership Conference, an event designed to empower the next generation of leaders both on and off the field.
The conference, hosted in partnership with FCUSD Athletics and the Rancho Cordova Athletic Association, centered on the theme “We Care About YOU.” Through an inspiring lineup of speakers and activities, students were encouraged to strengthen their character, embrace resilience, and practice integrity while learning the importance of teamwork and empathy.
The program emphasized that the lessons learned in athletics extend far beyond the playing field, offering tools for success in academics, careers, and life. Organizers described the gathering as a chance to build a culture of leadership that will ripple through Rancho Cordova schools and the larger community.

Special recognition was given to Cordova High School Principal Amy Strawn and her staff for their support of the event. Athletic Director and Head Football Coach JP Dolliver was credited with playing a key role in making the conference possible, while FCUSD Director of Athletics and Physical Education Peter Maroon was recognized for his continued commitment to providing student-athletes across the district with opportunities to grow in leadership and character.
The Lancer Athletic Leadership Conference has become a signature event at Cordova High, reinforcing the school’s tradition of athletic excellence while instilling the values needed to help student-athletes thrive in every aspect of their lives.
