FOLSOM – Organizers of Folsom Family Pride announced today that the city’s inaugural community celebration of LGBTQ+ pride will take place Saturday, October 11,from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lions Park in Folsom. Welcoming for all ages, the event invites residents and visitors to celebrate joy, resilience, and the strength of the queer community and its allies.
The four-hour celebration will feature inspiring speakers, local food vendors, a picnic area, arts and crafts, and activities for all ages—a welcoming park-day format designed to make it easy to connect with neighbors and enjoy an uplifting community experience. The event is expressly family-friendly, with ample space to gather, relax, and participate throughout the day.
“Pride is about people—our stories, our families, and the everyday kindness that turns a city into a community,” said Sarah Perrin, lead organizer of Folsom Family Pride. “We’ve built this celebration to be joyful, accessible, and welcoming for everyone. Whether you’re bringing kids to make crafts, listening to music, or simply curious to connect, Folsom Family Pride will be a place where you’re seen, respected, and celebrated.”
Community backing has been strong across businesses, nonprofits, and civic groups. Sponsors include Inductive Automation, Little Folks University, and the Folsom Area Democratic Club, alongside additional local partners like Ruby’s Books and Ben and Jerry’s. Kaiser Permanente is sponsoring and will be offering free flu shots for the community. These organizations’ support reflects a shared commitment to equity, inclusion, and a vibrant civic life in and around the Folsom community.
Volunteers are central to the event’s operations and hospitality. Volunteer opportunities range from event set-up and tear-down and assisting vendors to greeting attendees and helping with activity stations. As posted on the event website, all volunteers will receive a Folsom Family Pride t-shirt and refreshments as a thank-you for their service. Folks interested in volunteering should fill out the interest form on the Folsom Pride website.
“We’re excited to create a positive, loving space for folks in the queer community and for allies across the greater Folsom area,” said Julian Sarafian, head of marketing for Folsom Family Pride. “This is about love—for each other, for our community, and for the simple fact that love knows no ethnicity, creed, gender, politic, or age.”
Folsom Family Pride is a community-led celebration dedicated to fostering acceptance, empowerment, and unity across Folsom and the surrounding region. The event highlights local creativity and civic pride while creating space for connection among LGBTQ+ residents, allies, and neighbors.
