Folsom Lake College student Brendan Argenio is trading textbooks for the virtual driver’s seat this week as he represents the college in the eNASCAR College iRacing Series, a national esports competition hosted by iRacing and NASCAR. The series brings together the top 120 student drivers from colleges across the United States and Canada, all competing on professional-grade racing simulators that mirror the speed and strategy of real-world NASCAR events.
Argenio has qualified for the first race of the season, which takes place Wednesday, September 17. His entry places Folsom Lake College on the map in a league that has quickly grown into one of the premier collegiate esports racing platforms in North America.
The eNASCAR College iRacing Series not only challenges competitors with authentic virtual racing but also offers scholarship money and national recognition. For student drivers, it can serve as a stepping stone toward professional esports opportunities or even a pathway into real-world motorsports.
Argenio’s qualification showcases both his individual talent and the growing role of esports within higher education. Representing FLC in a competition that includes some of the largest universities in the country, he brings local pride to a national stage.
As the green flag drops on the 2025 season, fans and supporters will be watching closely to see how Argenio fares against the nation’s best collegiate racers.
More details on the series, including race schedules and standings, can be found at the official eNASCAR College iRacing page.
