FOLSOM — A former Folsom High School student has been arrested following a series of vandalism incidents this week that damaged two schools and a local car dealership, according to the Folsom Police Department.

The spree began overnight Tuesday, September 16, when vandals struck Folsom High School and Sandra Gallardo Elementary. When staff arrived Wednesday morning, they discovered graffiti across both campuses and 14 shattered windows at Folsom High. School leaders, in a statement to parents, described the damage as “discouraging and disruptive” but stressed that there was no ongoing safety threat. District crews immediately began cleanup and repairs.

The next day, investigators said, Folsom Lake Hyundai at the Folsom Auto Mall was also vandalized. Several showroom windows were broken and a vehicle was stolen from the property.

Detectives worked with school staff to identify a suspect, 23-year-old Abel Yemane, who previously attended Folsom High School. Yemane and the stolen vehicle were later located at a local motel, where he was taken into custody. Police said he was wearing clothing consistent with the school vandalism at the time of his arrest.

Officers serving a search warrant on the motel room also located spray paint, rocks believed to have been used in the vandalism, and the stolen vehicle’s key.

Yemane has been booked into the Sacramento County Jail and is facing multiple felony charges, including vandalism, burglary, and auto theft.
