Firefighters from three different fire agencies saved a Folsom home from fire during an early morning structure fire Monday, saving it from destruction and keeping flames out the living space, limiting it mostly smoke damage
At 4:55 a.m. Monday, the Folsom Fire Department, El Dorado Hills Fire District, Sacramento Metro Fire, and the Folsom Police Department responded to a residential structure fire on the 100 block of Livermore Way. A total of four engine companies, two truck companies, one paramedic ambulance, and two chief officers were dispatched to the scene.
Firefighters from Engine 38 arrived on scene to find smoke coming from the garage. According to a report from the Folsom Fire Department, heat and smoke made access into the dwelling difficult. Firefighters forced entry to the garage and made an aggressive attack on the fire.
Fire personnel extinguished the active fire within seven minutes of the first arriving fire engine. The fire was contained to the garage but caused smoke damage throughout the house. The homeowner was able to evacuate the home safely, after being alerted by smoke detectors.
“The Folsom Fire Department, the Folsom Police Department, and our neighboring agencies strive to work together to provide the best possible service to the community to save lives and property and minimize the impacts of emergencies such as this,” said a statemenr form the Folsom Fire Department. “This fire is a great reminder that properly maintained smoke alarms save lives.”
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, according to the department report issued later in the day. A total of 23 firefighters assisted with the operation.
