A section of Stafford Street in the City of Folsom has been closed Sunday night due to storm damaged power lines in the area.
The Folsom Police Department has advised residents to avoid the 600-800 blocks of Stafford Street due to downed power lines in the area. The lines went down shortly after 8:00 p.m. Sunday.
Stafford Street is closed to through traffic in the affected section. Folsom Police have barricades and warnings in the area and advise that resident should also avoid foot traffic. There has not been an estimated time that the roadway will be opened.
Some residents in the area are without power across different areas of the city Sunday night for a variety of storm related damage, ranging from downed lines to equipment failure caused by the storm.
At last report, some 177,000 Sacramento County residents had suffered power outages Sunday and 135,000 were still in the dark Sunday night. More than 850,000 residents statewide were without service Sunday evening.
“Safety is our top priority for you and our crews. While these high wind gusts continue, crews may not be able to safely make storm damage related repairs in some areas. We’re continuing to work throughout the night with all available crews to make sure impacted areas are safe, assess the damages and restore power,” reads a statement from SMUD Sunday evening. “Thank you for your patience and please stay safe. Download the SMUD app to report outages and get updates as outages are assessed.”
