An Orangevale man was is now in custody after a Folsom police investigation led officers from multiple agencies to his home where they found a collection of explosives, firearms and illegal drugs.
Investigators with the Folsom Police Department responded to the suspect’s home on the 9100 block of Golden Gate Avenue with a search warrant. Upon entry to the home, detectives located a large quantity of methamphetamine, psilocybin mushrooms, packaging for narcotic sales, approximately $2,000.00 cash, numerous firearms and explosive materials, according to a police department media release.
Matthew Vollman, 53 of Orangevale, was booked at the Sacramento County Main Jail for numerous felony charges. Vollman was prohibited from owning or possessing firearms from a previous charges.
The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Explosive Ordnance Disposal team was dispatched to the scene to. “render safe, and remove all explosives from the residence,” according to the report. Immediate neighbors were advised to shelter in place while the authorities cleared the property.
“Our officers often encounter situations where outside expertise is necessary for the safety of all involved personnel,” reads a statement from the Folsom Police Department. “We are grateful for our partnership with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office in handling these types of unexpected events.
According to jail records, Vollman faces multiple felony charges, including unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, unlawful possession of an explosive in a public place and the importation, sales and transportation of controlled substances. He also faces misdemeanor charges for the unlawful creation, transportation and possession of the explosives. He is scheduled to appear in court Friday with bail set at $250,000.
