EL DORADO HILLS — When county funding for the El Dorado Hills California Welcome Center was eliminated earlier this year, it appeared the community’s tourism hub might fade away. But thanks to the El Dorado Hills Chamber of Commerce—and a boost from Town Center owner Kevin Nagle—the center is reopening in a new home and continuing to welcome visitors to the region.

The El Dorado County Board of Supervisors’ decision to cut all tourism funding led to the closure of the California Welcome Center in July. Determined to keep the resource alive, the El Dorado Hills Chamber has been operating a scaled-down version with its own staff and resources. “The CWC draws hundreds of visitors per month,” said Chamber President and CEO Debbie Manning. “These visitors support local businesses when they fill up their tanks, shop and dine here. They’re also looking for the best kept secrets and things to do in El Dorado County. They’re appreciative of the many referrals we provide.”

The Chamber expressed gratitude to Nagle for his generosity and vision in recognizing the center’s importance. His support ensures the Welcome Center remains available not only to locals but also to travelers exploring the region. “We are delighted to have the Chamber as a tenant partner at the Town Center,” Nagle said. “Debbie and her team are a great business role model themselves for El Dorado Hills, and we are fortunate enough to have them.”

The Chamber has relocated its headquarters within El Dorado Hills Town Center, moving from 2085 Vine Street to 2023 Vine Street, Suite 105. The new space includes approximately 700 square feet designated for the California Welcome Center and a restroom for visitors.

El Dorado County’s wealth of tourism assets—from wineries and outdoor recreation to historic landmarks—continues to drive the local economy. While county supervisors have opted not to fund active marketing, the Chamber says it will continue working to keep the community “on the map and top of mind” for visitors.

A grand reopening celebration is planned in the coming months. Visitors are encouraged to stop by and say hello at the Chamber’s new location in Town Center.
